Volunteers can't do it alone!

CIS works closely with university interns, work-study students, and corporate and community volunteers to meet the needs of our students and their families.  In 2006-2007, CIS worked with more than 1,000 volunteers who provided thousands upon thousands of hours of service to CIS students and their families.

How can I get involved?
  • Tutoring
  • Mentoring
  • Helping students apply to college and/or for scholarships
  • Assisting field staff with clerical/paperwork
How do I get started?

For more information on volunteer/intern involvement, please return to the CIS Home (main) page, by clicking here and click on Download Resources (bottom right hand corner), and see VOLUNTEER LETTER AND APPLICATION 2008 2009.

You can also send us an email through our CONTACT US page, or call us at 713-654-1515 x165.

Did you know that volunteering is good for your health?  A recent study released by the Corporation for National and Community Service found a significant connection between volunteering and good health, including greater longevity, higher functional ability, lower rates of depression and less incidence of heart disease.
